 Liquid herbal tinctures are herbs that have been processed in a way to preserve the herb's active constituents or ingredients,
usually and most effectively using pure alcohol diluted with distilled water. The mixture of alcohol, glycerine and/or
vinegar and water is called menstruum.Throughout this site, I will use the term tincture interchangably with extract.
The difference is the percentage of herb to liquid or menstruum. An extract is usually a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio herb to menstruum
and a tincture is usually a 1:3 all the way up to a 1:10 ratio.
