Natural Herbal Tinctures

Dosage

Dosage of tinctures vary. The acute (rapid start, severe symptoms, such as a sudden cold or flu) phase of a health condition requires dosage on a frequent basis.  The chronic (long duration with ongoing and/or recurring symptoms) phase requires taking herbs on a regular basis over a longer period of time.  If you are already sick, up to 30 drops every 1 to 2 hours is recommended, until symptoms change for the better.

The size and condition of each person being treated is also important.  The general recommended adult dosage is 10 to 40 or more drops 1 to 3 or more times a day! Check with your herbalist or health care provider for the proper dosage for your current health condition.

Remember that listening to your body is the key for discovering the proper dosage for your needs...

Proper dosage is very important.  When using a tincture for the first time, try a few drops first to see whether you may be allergic toDosage it.  Most herbalists believe herbs work best when taken regularly, in small doses over a period of time.  Yet it is not uncommon to take 3 to 4 droppers-full for a desired effect.  Basically, take the herbs until symptoms ease.

Take caution when giving young children herbs.  Please be aware of the following important information prior to administering liquid herbal tinctures to children:  1) A child should be at least 1 year old 2) A child's dose is a fraction of an adult dose.  Consider percentage of weight of the child and dose accordingly 3) Reduce dosage further if the child is frail or underweight.
